Binary demonstrates how thoughtful hospitality design can transform an unconventional space into a destination that brings people together through food, drink, and shared experiences. Created for Bespoke Inns Group, the venue builds upon the success of The Dragon, The Boot, and Harpur’s, while establishing a distinct identity of its own within the Mickleover community.

Guided by our philosophy of people, place, flow, and business, the design reimagined a large industrial shell as a warm, welcoming, and highly functional hospitality environment. Rather than conceal the scale and character of the building, the design embraces its architectural qualities, creating a venue that feels both contemporary and inviting, with a strong sense of individuality.

At the heart of Binary is a carefully considered customer journey. The ground-floor bar acts as the social hub of the venue, creating a vibrant point of arrival that naturally draws guests together. Designed to encourage interaction while supporting operational efficiency, the bar provides a seamless transition between casual drinks, social gatherings, and the wider dining experience. Its prominent position establishes energy and atmosphere from the moment guests enter.

Flow throughout the venue was a key consideration, ensuring guests can move intuitively between spaces while maintaining a sense of connection and discovery. The arrangement of seating, circulation routes, and dining areas creates a variety of experiences, allowing visitors to choose settings that suit different occasions, whether enjoying a relaxed drink, a casual meal, or a special celebration.

The dining experience extends across both floors, with each space carefully designed to balance comfort, atmosphere, and functionality. Layered materials, rich textures, and carefully curated details create a sophisticated environment that feels welcoming rather than formal.
