Everything else grows from there
Founded in 2000 by Ian Murray, IMD was built on over 30 years of industry experience. Ian began his career in the 1970's as a draughtsman with Matthew Browns before becoming RICS registered and later a Director at John Dixons. With a clear vision for the future of design and development consultancy, he established IMD to deliver innovative, high-quality services for a new generation of clients.
Meet The Team
Director
Stephen Yardley
I studied at UCE (now Birmingham City University), where I earned both a BA (Hons) and an MA in Interior Design under the guidance of the legendary Steve Edge. My career began in London, where I honed my skills before returning up north to Manchester. Over the years, I’ve gained extensive experience working on leisure, retail, and hospitality projects, both across the UK and internationally.
I’m passionate about all things art and design, with a love that spans from classical architecture to mid-century design, art, and furniture. I’ve been deeply inspired by the London modern art movement of the late eighties and nineties, which continues to influence my work today.
I’m married, with a daughter and two King Charles Cavaliers, Daisy and Rosie. On weekends, you’ll usually find me walking the dogs or cycling through the scenic lanes of Lancashire and North Yorkshire.

Rebecca Tilley
I have been an integral part of the IMD team for over 20 years, and I have honed my expertise and passion for design. Having earned a BA (Hons) degree in Interior Design, I have accumulated a wealth of experience across a wide range of hospitality and leisure projects. Known for my keen eye for colour and attention to detail, I thrive on creating innovative and quirky interior schemes that meet the evolving demands of today’s leisure industry.
Beyond the office, my creativity extends to my personal life, where I enjoy spending quality time with my family. As a devoted mum to two lively young sons, I relish the adventures of parenting while making time for family weekends away in our motorhome with my partner—a perfect escape to recharge and find inspiration for my work.

Angela Gould
I have worked part time at IMD & Associates since 2012 as Accounts Manager, having worked in accounts since leaving school.
Although I'm not involved in the design side of the company, I'm proud to be part of such a fabulous, passionately creative team.
I'm happily married to Tony, with four grown up children between us, who still keep us busy! A life long Preston North End fan for my sins
